Bringing Embroidery to Paper

It's always fun to bring new elements to a DIY project. One of my friends loves to embroider and she was showing me a few of her pieces. I was inspired but them and thought it would be a fun idea to bring that element to the cards that I make! Embroidering is a practice that takes time and patience, so I am no where close to being a professional, but I thought the process was fun and unique.

Here is a step by step process on how to embroider on paper and make a basic stitch!

Materials Needed

Materials needed

You will only need a few materials. Thread, embroidery needles, card stock paper, and scissors.

Outline

The first thing that you want to do is cut the card stock paper to your desired size. You will then draw the outline of what you want to embroider. After finishing the drawing poke holes a long the outline of the picture. Then you erase the outline of your drawing.

Creating a Basic Stitch

1) The first thing that you will do is make and knot and bring the thread through the paper towards you.

2) You will then put the thread and needle to the next hole away from you.

3) Now flip the paper over and put the thread and needle through the next hole and pull through.

4) Once the needle is pulled through you will insert it into the same hole that you went through in step two.

5) Now pull the need through and turn the paper over. You will now insert that needle through the hole that you went through in step three.

6) Pull the needle through and you have created a basic stitch.
