How to Write a Letter

Writing letters can seem like a daunting task, but in reality it's just like talking to someone face to face. I like to think that the words we put on paper are the words that we would like to express in person, but they are just thought over a bit more. Here is a step-by-step tutorial of how to express your appreciation to someone through writing a letter.

Someone In Mind

The first thing that you want to do is have someone in mind. When having someone that you are writing a card to, you are able to personalize it towards them. Personalizing a letter creates more meaning. You can either purchase a letter or create your own. One of my all time favorite brands that I use when I don't make my own letters is Papyrus. They have so many cute and creative cards for every occasion and for every personality.

Write What You Are Feeling

The great thing about writing letters is that you decide how formal it has to be. I can't tell you the last time that I started off a letter with "dear". For me personally I find that to be artificial and that I am following a mold. Instead a just write. I write how I feel about the individual and what I admire about them. I thank them for our friendship and the memories that we have created. Writing letters is a simple way of how to make memories when you are distanced from those who you appreciate. Express your gratitude and send them love.

Now sometimes a formal letter is appropriate for different situations. Hallmark's creative team as given a step-by-step tutorial of how to write a letter for those situations.

Send it With Love

Each letter that you write and a token of your appreciation. Cherish the moments when writing the letters because they will always be well received. Having the right intentions always bring the right results. When mailing a letter, remember why you are writing it and how the individual will feel. This just adds extra love to it.

It's Not That Hard

Writing letters is not a hard thing. Just simply personalize it towards the individual that you admire and write how to feel about them. Letters take the distance between people and make them closer. The words that you write on paper are words that will always be written on their hearts.
